This series of bookplate illustrations is for a favorite book, Mara, Daughter of the Nile, by Eloise Jarvis McGraw. The illustrations highlight three major scenes in the story: Mara the slave stealing bread just before being hired as a slave, a tomb robbery, and her capture by palace guards. Each of the illustrations were chosen almost as an abridged storyboard of the book, illustrating key developments in the characters’ lives. The illustrations were made with pen, brush, and india ink.
